Integrated Recycle Bin
An Insurance Policy for your IBM Cognos environment

In 1995, Microsoft introduced Windows 95, and among the various features was the tremendously popular Recycle Bin. The Recycle Bin keeps files that have been deleted, whether accidentally or intentionally. Users can review the contents of the Recycle Bin before deleting the items permanently. The Recycle Bin holds data that not only lists deleted files, but also the date, time and the path of those files.

Until now, this capability did not exist within the confines of IBM Cognos, leaving users in a bind when reports, folders, etc. are intentionally or inadvertently deleted.  Previously, the only way to recover a deleted item in Cognos was to look to a backup of the content store (if one is available).

The BSP Recycle Bin for IBM Cognos was designed to retain content that has been deleted from Cognos Connection.  Positioned directly inside of Cognos Connection, users will have their own My Recycle Bin, enabling them to recover deleted items when the need arises.  Administrators will have access to the Recycle Bin of all users.

Recycle Bin for IBM Cognos Benefits:

  • Directly integrated into IBM Cognos Connection
  • Available to each user as well as globally to administrators
